Overview

Spaces is a cloud-based SaaS chat app designed for families to stay connected and engaged through topic-based conversation, daily prompts, and activity statistics/leaderboards. The app features interventions rooted in behavior-change theories, ranging from check-ins to a family tree view to a shared bulletin-board style interface.

This project was created for my Designing For Behavior Change course and utilized a theory-based design method, which included identifying barriers and crafting mechanisms to target those barriers. Through the development of causal pathway diagrams, this process drew on various academic research theories to create a solution for a particular persona. The project was initially prototyped in a 3-hour design sprint, then later fleshed out over 3 weeks to achieve a more complete product.

My Role

I took lead on the design for the family tree and leaderboard system, the topic boards and feeds, and messaging. As part of the team, I was involved in every step of the process and collaborated on ideation, theory applications, and visual implementations for each feature.
